Your habits are personal. We built The Rituals with privacy at its core — your data stays yours, always.
Introduction
The Rituals ("we", "our", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use The Rituals mobile application and related services.
We view privacy not as a feature, but as a fundamental right. The Rituals is designed to be privacy-first: your habit data is stored locally on your device by default, and cloud sync is entirely optional.
Data We Collect
- Habit names, schedules, and settings ON-DEVICE
- Completion records and streak data ON-DEVICE
- Notes and quantitative entries ON-DEVICE
- App preferences and theme settings ON-DEVICE
- Email address (for authentication) ENCRYPTED
- Habit data (synced across devices) ENCRYPTED
We do not collect biometric data, location data, contacts, or browsing history. We do not use third-party tracking cookies or behavioral advertising.
Analytics
We use Firebase Analytics for privacy-compliant, aggregated usage statistics. This helps us understand which features are most valuable and improve the app experience. Analytics data is:
- check Fully anonymized — no personally identifiable information
- check Never sold or shared with third-party advertisers
- check Used only to improve The Rituals experience
How We Use Your Data
Cloud Synchronization
If you opt into cloud sync (PRO feature), your habit data is encrypted and stored in Firebase Firestore to enable seamless access across all your devices.
Notifications & Reminders
Reminder notifications are processed entirely on your device. We do not monitor notification engagement remotely.
Subscription Management
Payments are processed through Apple App Store and Google Play Store via RevenueCat. We never see or store your payment card details.
Data Security
Your data is protected.
All cloud-synced data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest using industry-standard encryption. Your local data is protected by your device's built-in security.
We follow the principle of minimal data collection — we only store what is necessary to provide the service you've opted into.
Third-Party Services
We use a limited number of trusted third-party services:
- Firebase (Google) — Cloud sync, authentication, and anonymized analytics
- RevenueCat — Subscription management (no access to payment details)
- Apple / Google — App distribution and in-app payment processing
We do not share, sell, or rent your personal data to any other third parties.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- check Access your data at any time through in-app data export
- check Delete your data by deleting habits or requesting full account deletion
- check Opt out of cloud sync at any time
- check Request a copy of all data we hold about you
Children's Privacy
The Rituals is rated 4+ and does not contain objectionable content. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The app can be used without creating an account or providing any personal information.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the effective date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes your acceptance.
